The Lobster House Take 2

food, Travel

My husband and I decided to take a fairly impromptu vacation this past weekend. We both had Friday off, so we decided to throw caution to the wind and drive to Avalon, NJ.

One of our favorite restaurants in the area is The Lobster House, for various reasons. We often like to stop in their fish market before heading home (which we did on this particular occasion). In fact, as a side note, we enjoyed some barbecue bacon stuffed clams tonight (that we brought home from The Lobster House). Also, they make a mean onion poppy seed roll (so delicious!).

But the fish market isn’t the only reason we like this restaurant. They have several seating choices. We often choose the outside dock seating. They have large stools along the water. And it’s extra special at sunset when your view becomes extraordinary.

We recommend stopping in if you’re ever in the area. Just be warned, this place is well liked and can fill up fast!

Wildwoods, NJ (Part 2)

Beaches, Entertinament, food, Ocean, Travel

In last week’s post I mentioned that my husband and I went to Wildwoods, NJ to see my sister compete in colorguard championships. When she wasn’t competing we found ways to “kill time.” Two of the days we decided to check out the boardwalk, which isn’t lacking…

There are plenty of restaurants and eateries. I personally recommend Stewart’s. They have great rootbeer and good food. We also enjoyed their rooftop seating. However, food is not the only thing in generous supply. There are plenty of amusement rides, arcades, shops, and more… In fact, we took a step back in time, when we visited a vintage arcade.  It had a large assortment of pinball machines and old favorites. It will either give you the creeps or remind you of the good ole’ times. We decided to try and play the TMNT game. However, the game didn’t work properly, after an arcade assistant returned our money, we returned to 2015. Personally, I think we’ll stick to modern arcades from now on.

Among the other things to do, there’s mini golf and an aquarium. We stopped by the aquarium, since there was a lady standing outside with a snake wrapped around her. Although, we didn’t go inside, I did get to touch the snake. She also handed me an advertisement that listed some of the things they offer, including a shark touch tank.

There is plenty to do in Wildwoods, NJ. However, we didn’t get to explore much in the area, other than the boardwalk. But, it seems entirely possible to fill your weekend with things to do right there. Particularly if you like food, arcades, and amusement rides.

Have you been to the area? What were your favorite things?

The Lobster House

food, Ocean, Travel

The Lobster House is located on fisherman’s wharf at Cape May Harbor. This bay-side restaurant is a must for seafood lovers. It is currently our favorite in Cape May, NJ.

You can choose to sit in the restaurant, at the raw bar or on a schooner. Each place has its own specialties and offers a different experience.

The Lobster House also has a great fish market. Unless you personally catch a fish and cook it immediately, you can’t ask for much fresher. Purchase anything from salmon to stuffed clams. They also offer a wide variety of delicious desserts and great coleslaw (among other things). When you’re feeling especially hungry you can opt for the Cape May Clam Bake, filled with tasty selections.

If you’re planning a trip to the area, we highly recommend checking out this restaurant. Enjoy a little seafood by the bay, but don’t be surprised if you see a few seagulls…
